Essential Daily Maintenance Tips to Extend Your High Pressure Washer Pump Lifespan
Technical Maintenance Guide

The plunger pump is the core component of any high-pressure cleaning machine. Proper daily maintenance can double its service life and reduce unnecessary repair costs for your business. We have sorted out practical maintenance tips for all pressure washer users.
- Pre-operation InspectionCheck the water inlet filter before startup to remove sediment and debris. Blocked filters will cause insufficient water supply and damage the pump plunger. Confirm fuel and engine oil levels for diesel washers, and check cable insulation for electric models.
- Post-shutdown CleaningAfter each workday, run clean cold water through the system for 2-3 minutes to flush residual dirt, grease and detergent inside the pump and pipelines. Do not store the machine with chemical liquid left inside.
- Seasonal Anti-freeze ProtectionFor areas with cold winters, drain all water from the pump, hose and gun after use. Pour anti-freeze liquid into the pump chamber to prevent cracking caused by frozen water.
- Regular Lubrication & ReplacementReplace pump oil every 200 working hours. Inspect seals, O-rings and spray nozzles monthly; worn nozzles will cause unstable pressure and waste water resources.
- Avoid Overload OperationDo not keep the machine running under maximum pressure continuously for more than 4 hours. Take short breaks to cool down the pump and motor.
